Graduation Weekend

We kept a surprise from our family for 3 weeks. When we heard Ryan was a GO for graduation from Ranger school, we told the kids WE ALL were going to the graduation. There was no way one of us was going without the other, and well, the kids come with us at this stage. It was a GREAT weekend and JUST WHAT WE NEEDED after several weeks of homeschooling, Richard traveling A LOT and not seeing Ryan and Katelyn. It was the little's first plane ride...and our first trip to Ryan and Katelyn's new home. It was Richard's second trip to Fort Benning...he was born there 48 years ago!

Ryan knew his dad was coming...but we surprised him at Red Lobster. Kate is a great secret-keeper!

We celebrated Ryan's birthday, since he was in the swamps on the 11th. We were happy to get to share his ice cream cake!

Katelyn and Ryan knew just where to take us. We went to the super-neat Army museum that is on base at Benning. It was very special and helped us all get into the military mind-set. I didn't move my whole childhood, I love that they are already exploring and experiencing everything they can at their first assignment. Richard knows all about living on military bases, but it was so fun for me to see all the amenities on the base and see the community that they live in.
