I've read lots of books that take place on Mackinac Island and sometime in college, Cindy K had me watch the classic: Somewhere in Time with Jane Seymore and Christopher Reeves. It was filmed at the Grand Hotel. It is a fascinating location and amazing place to sit, talk, pause, and just enjoy the grandeur.
