We got a tip from someone along the way that told us to go night-tubing at the county park in Flagstaff. We bought tickets online and headed there around 6pm on our last night. It was super cold outside and they had about 4 routes open. We had fun tagging along together and trying to get the furthest. The boys made it a few more times than the girls and Cam found friends in the smaller slope to do tricks with. About an hour in, the most beautiful flaky snow started falling. We started taking pictures and loved our last freezing moments in Flagstaff. We had warm brownies when we got home (because we know how to party) then took some Happy New Year pictures.
The next morning we went to the small airport early because we had to be out of our home, and so we could watch the Razorback bowl game on tv. It's a small airport, but we found a way to get a tv going with our game. After a few hours, our first flight was delayed and then there were mechanical problems. After realizing this flight wasn't going to make Richard rented a large Silverado truck and we used trash bags to protect our suitcases so we could start the ride back to Arkansas. There were NO FLIGHTS going to Dallas so we couldn't make any other plans. We started the drive.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: After Siri said, "Stay on I-40 for the next 465 miles." Lauren says from the back seat, "Shut your face Siri."
We made it 5 hours, which included a meal stop, and it was clear that the position of our knees and Lauren's swelling, and the lack of rest was not going to work. Albuquerque was the next big city and I suggested we stopped and find tickets home. We were all ready to stretch out so Richard got us 6 tickets, and arranged to return our truck the next morning, AND, also got our plane tickets refunded. NONE of our going or returning flights made. We changed every single one of them. It was like a movie. A bad one. On one of our flights Richard was a stand by. He got on at the last minute. We arrived home about 3pm on Sunday, a day late, but home just the same.
