Homework - not a highlight

This is Richard, helping Jordan with homework. For some reason the very idea of sitting down to do homework makes the entire house fill with tension. We never know how it will be received when we ask the daily question, "Do you have homework tonight?" My kids are smart, as in, if they concentrate and study for 15 minutes, they'll consistently make a high B or A on any test in any subject. BUT, there is something in their brain that makes them think they're going to miss out on something. It's just not true.

But bad grades and missing assignments may cause you to miss that game you wanted to play in...

We don't want our kids to survive...we want them to thrive. We recognize that every one of our kids are different, and never compare. However, we also know that every person in our home is able to do their best and we're going to help them realize the blessings come from JUST DOING IT (homework, laundry, making their bed, brushing their teeth, taking a bath, or getting to the car...without arguing, negotiating or grumbling)

We're still pedaling uphill, but tonight, at the bar, we got a little closer.
